Elders

Scott Olson, Chairman Scott first attended The Bridge (then Des Plaines Bible Church) in 1979. He has served in many different ministries in the church and has been an elder for more than 12 years and has served as chairman for 4 years. He and his wife Jan have three adult children, Chad, who is married, Chase and Afton. Scott enjoys walking, bicycle and motorcycle riding with Jan. He loves the ministry, mentoring and teaching in particular.

Dennis Capps Dennis and Cheryl have been at The Bridge Community Church for twenty years. He is very active on the worship team and has also served as an Awana leader and high school mentor. He and Cheryl have two adult sons, Ryan and Kevin, though they don't look old enough to have kids that old. Dennis loves to golf, water sports and rooting for the bears. He loves playing on the worship team!

Paul Hardt Paul came to The Bridge Community Church through his wife, Becky, who is now the church's office manager. They were married at the church and Paul has been an active member ever since. He serves as a police officer in Wheeling, but lives just a couple blocks from the church. He has served as an Awana leader, junior high and high school leader and small group leader. Paul and Becky have two sons, David and Dan. He loves the friendliness at our church and appreciates the emphasis on the gospel and outreach to families.

John Knautz John originally hails from Wisconsin but has been accepted in Bear country anyway, though it has taken a while. He and his wife, Karen have been members for over 25 years. They have three children, Pam, Tommy and Nathan. John is very active in the church in a number of service and leadership roles. He has recently taken on a new ministry overseeing "Connections," helping new people getting connected to the life and ministry of The Bridge Community Church.

Ralph Larson Ralph and his wife, Mary joined the church in 1970, and he has served in leadership for much of that time. He and his wife, Mary have two grown children, both of whom are also members of the church, along with their families. The Larsons live in Arlington Heights. Ralph loves to take periodic cruises with his bride and he loves to serve the Lord and His church.

Jerry Sommers Jerry and his wife, Julie, have been a part of our church since accepting Christ ten years ago. He has been an elder since 2006. They have two teenage children, Kyle and Kelly, and live in Mount Prospect. Jerry owns and operates Furniture City in Norridge. He has a passion for outreach to the lost and heads up our greeting ministry.

John Tyler John and his wife, Jan, both been very active in the church since they first moved to Des Plaines in 1981. John served as the missions chairman for several years. John retired in 2008, and serves in the church caring ministry.He and Jan have an adult daughter, Jennie, who also lives in Des Plaines. John loves Nascar and football but mostly he loves learning to become more like Jesus.

Scott Ziegler Scott is the newest member of the elder team having joined the church as lead pastor in July of 2007. He is delighted to work with a fine team of godly and humble men committed to honoring the Lord in their personal lives as well as their leadership ministry in the church.
